Giant Panda "TKO" (12")

Fresh off of their debut album, Fly School Reunion, Giant Panda unleashes their body-blow third 12” on Tres Records, “T.K.O.” backed with the “T.K.O. Mega-Mix” produced by Ohmega Watts of Lightheaded.  Rounding out the 12” is the non-album “Plus Bonus Party Cut” produced by GP member Newman.

“T.K.O.” was declared by legendary radio personality and behind the scene mover and shaker Nasty Nes as a sure-fire hit, so it only makes sense that the Chikaramanga produced cut was picked for the next single.  With the hard drums, bouncy guitars, punchy rhymes, and catchy hook, this will be one for the radio and the club.  Fellow Tres Records’ artist Lightheaded appear on the B-side doing backup shouts while their beat-maestro extraordinaire Ohmega Watts sets a new stage for the Pandas to flex their reworked rhymes.  Mr. Watts is one of the hottest producers on the rise right now, thanks to his solo release (The Find on Ubiquity) and his work on Lightheaded’s Tres debut, Wrong Way.  This beat is further evidence why he is one to watch.  The final song on the 12” is the “Plus Bonus Party Cut”, which is exactly what it states to be: a fun, lighthearted party jam to rock at the club and the house party.  Newman from Giant Panda pounded out the beat while him and Maanumental worked out the rhymes.  Chikaramanga handles the cuts to make sure the party people say, “Oh!”

After all the press (41/2 stars in Urb, Chairmans Choice in XXL, feature in XLR8R) and radio play (peaked at #3 on CMJ’s Hip-Hop Chart) Fly School Reunion received, Giant Panda had to come out swinging with this release.  Safe to say that the “T.K.O.” 12” is a knockout!
