Yesterday was one of the most memorable days since I restarted TRES.
Officially, it was the 3rd Party Special Edition featuring Thes One.
During his set, Thes opened with a beat he had made in memory of Double K.
As the beat played, he looked over at me and said,
"Chikara! Are you feeling Mike here or what?!"
For a moment, it felt like he was there.
For years, TRES has carried the mission:
"Preserve the tradition, yet stimulate the progress."
Preserving the tradition isn't just about preserving vintage equipment, classic production techniques, or the sound of 90s Hip Hop.
Those things still inspire me.
But what truly deserves to be preserved is something much less tangible.
The spirit behind the culture.
Yesterday brought together people from different generations and different parts of the world, all connected by the same spirit.
As TRES continues to evolve, I hope we can keep creating projects that bring people together like yesterday did.
Not to recreate the past.
But to carry its spirit into whatever comes next.
