Tres Records is ecstatic to present the first 12” from the highly anticipated People Under The Stairs album, Stepfather. After a short break, Thes One and Double K return with the sharply dressed, get off the wall funk of “Tuxedo Rap” and the 12” only b-side of “Nothing At All”.

“Tuxedo Rap,” an addictive juxtaposition of old school disco jam and futuristic funk, lies just beyond recognition yet never fails to move even the least funky of folk. Lyrically Thes and Double ride the rhythm until the tape cuts to instrumental, the signature moment of the extended disco version. Though they both kick highly drum-beat-conscious, syncopated lyrics on their first verses, they turn the clock back on their second verses in a way only Thes One and Double K can. Most importantly, to increase the party/DJ friendly vibe of this thoroughly banging 12”, The P passes on a secondary instrumental version and supplies the “Extended Disco Mix” (not featured on the album) that extends the party groove well beyond the 7-minute mark. The irrefutable result guarantees to not stop until you get enough. The flipside reveals the exclusive, non-Stepfather, “Nothing At All”. A chopped to pieces string sample and signature P.U.T.S. hard-hitting drum-line set the mood while Thes and Double K bring raps that call an ambulance for “your mama”. An instrumental is included for this one and, for the first time in P.U.T.S. history, an accapella version is included for both songs, rounding out the perfect 12” for those producers and DJ’s who always wanted to take a shot at remixing The P.

Many years in the making, “Tuxedo Rap” is the song that P.U.T.S. and quality hip-hop fans have been dying to hear without even knowing it. With this strong and funky lead 12”, the level of anticipation should shoot through the roof for the April 18th release of Stepfather, their fifth full-length album.
