One May morning, Thes One and some of his friends from Giant Panda (Maanumental, Newman, Superbrush, and Sir Kado) drove past the discotechs and cheap beer of Northern Baja . They drove down the Pacific Coast , over the mountains, and down to the Sea of Cortez to a little town called Mulege.
For two weeks, a modest built out trailer would be their home. They would fish for dinner; buy produce from the farmers who inhabited the town. They would eat at the local taco stands and root for the local baseball team when they played on Sundays.
And they would also make some Hip-Hop and film videos. Armed with two MPCs, a turntable, a mic, an ADAT, and two super 8 cameras, these five guys would document their vacation in a way that none of them (and perhaps no one else in the world) had done before. With no expectations but to do it, after a few roles of film and a couple tracks done, they knew they had something special.
The good folks at Tres knew that the Bloquera would be to o good and unique of a project to let slip from their fingers, so Tres put it out. Available for your ears and eyes: a different side of Baja, a different way of documenting a vacation, and to create an album. Out of print now, so cop it at I-Tunes, or any other site where the dudes can get paid (do I hear a Rhapsody?)
